do the ends really justify the means?
Just a random thought that popped into my head while I was showering. And here's MY take on it. It's just an opinion. XD
What if.
Strength could be divided into five main groups.
The
weak, or cowards, who don't do anything, don't try anything, using the excuse, the ends don't justify the means. So we don't wanna use the wrong means. And thus they end up doing nothing.
The
normal, who only notice the pain of the world when it hits real close to home. Before that, they're oblivious, and as long as their world is ok, they're satisfied. (SAJI CROSSROAD. :X) Either that, or they notice, but don't really do anything about it. Bits here and there is the limit.
The
strong, who will protect or achieve the right end using whatever means necessary. They don't feel guilt using the wrong means cos they feel the ends justify it all.
The
guilty, who are the same as the above, except they carry the weight of the guilt or sin on their shoulder. I label them as stronger than the previous because, even knowing full well the consequence or weight of the sins, they still have the courage to shoulder them, for the good of someone else.
The
elite. Those who are able to achieve their intended ends using the right means, even if it was not necessarily the most easily achievable. This one is really tough, cos sometimes, we really don't see an alternative other than the wrong means.
But at the end of all this, what IS the right or wrong means? Isn't it all a matter of opinion? Some consider killing a bad guy to save a thousand others a wrong method. Some consider it right. What is wrong and right? Is it not up to each individual philosophy?
Is it right to sacrifice one innocent life to save five others?
I'll post that email up again when I find it.
Fly forth, guided by your heart ;
